Court throws out claim Rings production company abused horses

A Motueka horseman who had alleged mistreatment of his horses during production of the Lord of the Rings films has had his case thrown out by a disputes tribunal.
Pegasus Park Equestrian Adventure Tours owner-operator Rand Colgan had taken production company Three Foot Six to court, alleging mistreatment of his horses during filming near Twizel two years ago and the poaching of his staff.
Mr Colgan had been contracted to supply horses and riders for South Island filming locations.
The case was thrown out after a 90-minute hearing in the Nelson District Court earlier this week.
