Jackson and cast at press conference.
Thanks to Sharon for these news bits from the New Zealand paper, Contact!

“But that’s not to say Jackson hasn’t been up to his old tricks. He says he’s still coming up with a world first in his treatment of an animated character. Gollum will be computer-generated but will “retain the essence of the actor” – so much so that Jackson hopes to “break through a barrier” in the way Andy Serkis “acts” the part of Gollum.”

“… it will be another 13 months . . . before his magnum opus premieres on screen at The Embassy, followed by 8,000 to 10,000 other screens around the world.”

Susan adds:

The Embassy is Wellington’s biggest and finest movie theatre, recently refurbished and with revamped sound, with support from Jackson. He released “The Frighteners” exclusively there in Wellington.

So, does this mean that the VERY FIRST premiere of the films will be in Wellington? And it also seems to say that releasing it worldwide simultaneously is still a feasible possibility…
