LotR Composer Picked? – SoundTrack.Net Reports Rumor

by Jul 23, 2000Lord of the Rings (Movies)

SoundTrack.Net is reporting that a composer has been picked for Lord of the Rings. They are reporting that Howard Shore has been picked for the job.

Howard has been doing movie scores now for over 20 years and he has some rather big movies under his belt, including Big, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Game, Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, The Fly, Philadelphia, and New Line Cinema’s new movie The Cell.

Howard seems to be a capable composer, but I can’t for the life of me remember any of the music from any of the above movies. I suppose this is a good thing in that the music didn’t detract from the story telling of some of those great movies.

Now SoundTrack.net has not been able to confirm this, but this news travels on the heels of news from Tolkien-Movies Polish Director Wojciech Kilar (click here for complete story) was not interested in doing all three movies. Make of it what you will.
