Someone going by the name of “Khamul The Easterling” is posting on Decipher‘s Lord of the Rings message board what he claims are the scripts used to audition actors for Peter Jackson’s film.
At the time of this writing, the poster has released twelve of twenty-three audition scripts in his possession. He is posting one per day, with the last one to be posted on September 28th.
Below is the poster’s introduction to each script, explaining what they are:
The 57-page audition script highlights a mixture of scenes from each novel in the trilogy and is not intended to form any story. Rather, the selections provide brief representations of different characters found in the film.
Aragorn, Arwen, Bilbo, Boromir, Denethor, Elrond, Eowyn, Faramir, Frodo, Galadriel, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Merry, Pippin, Sam, Saruman, Theoden and Wormtonge each have an audition part in the script.
What you are about to read is a direct reproduction of the script as it was distributed to actors and actresses during auditions. I came into possession of this script — one of a dozen or so which were “leaked” — through a combination of good luck and splendid timing.
Remember that these excerpts do not necessarily reflect the final drafts to “Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Two Towers” or “The Return of the King.” And take note: The audition script and each excerpt from it is copyrighted by Three Foot Six Ltd.
As the poster says, the audition script — assuming it is the genuine article — is copyrighted, and therefore we are not reproducing it here.
However, you may click on the link below and judge their authenticity for yourself.
— UPDATE —
Decipher has removed the scripts from their message board.
