Lord of the Rings Scoring Rumors – New Line rep addresses Rumors

New movie site FilmForce came across the following information:

On a recent installment of the “FilmFreak” show on KLSX 97.1 in Los Angeles, a
representative from New Line indicated rumors of composer Wojciech Kilar’s (Bram
Stoker’s Dracula) attachment to the forthcoming Lord of the Rings feature films
are not well founded.

The New Line rep said Kilar’s name has indeed been brought up in association with
LOTR, but revealed New Line’s favorite to score the trilogy is James Horner
( Aliens, Braveheart, Titanic).

I think James Horner would be a great choice to score the films… Braveheart is one of my top two scores of all time (along with Star Wars, of course). It’d be interesting to see a score by Horner, with a song by Loreena McKennit (rumoured to be involved in the film’s music)–I could see her putting the lyrics of Galadriel’s Song to music, treating it with dignity and respect (as she’s done in much of her other music which uses outside lyrics).
