Extra 200 for Flood Relief
by Martin van Beynen
The Press On-Line – November 23, 1999
While residents and assessors were counting the cost of the
floods yesterday, the producer of Lord of the Rings, Tim Sanders,
was making new arrangements.
Film crews, who have been filming the $360 million trilogy in
Central Otago for the last 10 days, have been delayed by the
weather and damage to film sets. One set along the Kawarau River
was washed away.
Meanwhile, two houses in Alexandra have been condemned
because of flood damage and three families in Balclutha have been
unable to return home.
