I caught this article on the horrible flooding in the Queenstown, NZ area over at Ringbearer:

Rain Stops In Central Otago But Flood Waters Remain and it`s hampering filming!

The rain has stopped in Central Otago but much of the region remains underwater today with residents watching to see if rising floodwaters have peaked.

There’s heavy flooding in Alexandra but no further evacuations have been carried out since more than 200 people were moved from their homes yesterday.

The local council said it appears the flooding peaked at 1am last night.

In Queenstown the lake level was still moving up but was expected to peak this afternoon.

Queenstown remains cut off by flooding that has closed both roads into the town. The shopping area remains flooded and the town has run out of bread and milk.

Roading contractors will this morning work to clear roads blocked by slips and flooding around Queenstown, Alexandra and Wanaka.

Transit New Zealand was hoping to get at least single lane access in the problem areas today, but said in some areas, contractors will have to wait for heavy flooding to recede.

Southland roads have also suffered considerable damage.
