Joram over at Ringbearer has posted an excerpt from a New Zealand newspaper interview with Ethan Hawke. On the topic of LOTR, Hawke had this to say:
Hawke: I will play Faramir, the Brother of Boromir, in the third movie. The Lord of the Rings is actually one of my favourite books.
NZ: Why do you think it has such big appeal today?
EH: Because of all the myths, and all the corruption. I read it again last year, before I knew about the movie. It is one of the greatest books ever written!
NZ: Will your wife play in the movie?
EH: I don`t know. She has been talking with the producers. But we are a bit skeptical to working together.
I think it’s pretty safe to say by this point that Ethan Hawke is 100% confirmed for the role. And of course, it’s nice to know that at least one of the actors has actually read the book…
Peter Jackson sat down for a small featurette to discuss taking The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit into 4k.
