The reliable David Hill sent in this bit of info on the shooting in NZ
OK, they started filming yesterday (monday) here in NZ. They showed on the news big tents in the bush, with news that the first scene being filmed were the hobbits walking through the bush. 140 trees were brought from town to fill out the scene. If the weather holds, they will be filming in the same spot for the rest of the week. (I don’t know what spot, it was just near a mountain). Oh, and the news people said that security is extra tight around the movie set.
Thanks David! I’m looking forward to getting some of the eyewitness photographs of the set (everyone in Kiwi-land dust off those cameras and grab a nice long zoom lens!).
