I just got a wonderful little message in my e-mail. It seems that the sender of this e-mail has tried out for the part of someone who is in the Prancing Pony when Frodo walks in. A non-disclosure agreement was signed so there is not a whole lot I can pass along without getting our friend into trouble. This person also mentioned that it will take Peter Jackson about 3 weeks to look at the films and make his decisions.
“Liz was very positive about my reactions and screen presence, despite my lack of acting experience. It was an enjoyable audition and I found the people to be very nice. If I get the part it will certainly be beyond my wildest dreams of being a part of this project. When I first auditioned I thought that I might get a shot as a background extra (Orc?), (distance background.) Yes being a Human in Lord of the Rings will be an exciting experience, even if it is as a grumpy drunken human low life…
Now, I’ve always wanted to be a Stormtrooper in Star Wars, but I guess now I envy this guy, he has the opportunity to be the next best thing, a drunk bastard at the Prancing Pony.
Peter Jackson sat down for a small featurette to discuss taking The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit into 4k.
