“What the…? Where’d that come from?” I’m sure many of you were saying those exact words as you suddenly noticed the advertisement at the top of our page. As of today, we’ve become a partner with IGN SciFi, a site dedicated to bringing you the latest in science fiction and fantasy.
Putting ads there will of course help us with meeting the fiscal bottom line this site demands. We’ve put hundreds of hours into building and maintaining The One Ring, along with lots of initial (and continuing) capital investments–with some revenue, we’ll be able to regain some of those costs and allow us to continually expand The One Ring, shedding the light of Tolkien into the darkness that is the internet ;-).
Let us know what you think about this! Email either Ted or Jonathan to voice your opinion on this change… We want to hear from you!
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
– Fellowship of the Ring
In 2016, a Christmas poem by Tolkien written in 1936 was discovered at a school in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK. Read and listen to it for the first time!
