Tarsa_viverin let us know about the following:
In February 2002’s edition of Graphic Design USA, one of the cover stories is “Mada Merchandises Lord of the Rings Movie.” This is a trade mag, so most visitors to the TORC site will never otherwise see or hear of this article. It’s a blurb in the “Seen and Noted” column on page 38. There is a pic of Arwen on the table of contents page. The blurb features the fronts of the “Legolas” card, as well as “The Arrival of Arwen,” and one of Frodo holding the ring. It also show the back of Legolas’ card. (This is the first time I’ve seen them–they do look great!)
The blurb reads:
Mada Design developed a popular set of collectible trading cards featuring pivotal scenes from The Lord Of The Rings movie. Topps is the licensee. The 50-person creative firm, headed by Stan Madaloni, also has the Pokemon card set to its credit as well as innumerable other merchandising projects.
The pics of the cards take about half the page.
I realize this is not earth-shattering “spoiler” news or anything, but I thought it was cool. 🙂
I checked their website (https://www.gdusa.com), and they are still on Jan, so the pics aren’t there yet, but I’m guessing they will be there shortly.
