The fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring collected another $9.7M on Thursday, its second day of release, dropping an understandable 47% from its Wednesday opening gross of $18.2M. Going into the crowded pre-Christmas weekend, the New Line release has taken in an impressive $27.9M and should easily remain number one over the frame.
