The Brobdingnagian Bards to Play at Into the West!!
We are pleased and excited to announce that the Brobdingnagian Bards will be joining the lineup of fantastic musicians for an exclusive performance at the Into the West Oscar Party!
Celtic duo Marc Gunn and Andrew McKee, the Brobdingnagian Bards, will travel to Hollywood to entertain and inspire us with their unique sound. The Bards perform a mix of Irish drinking songs, Scottish folk songs, filk and instrumental fantasy music on the autoharp, recorder and mandolin which they dubbed The Original Celtic Renaissance. The Austin Chronicle has called them the “masters of traditional folk” as they dominated the world’s largest free music portal, MP3.com. They became the #1 Celtic band on that website, without the help of a label, earning over five million MP3s downloaded!
Their latest CD, Memories of Middle Earth, features sixteen songs inspired by JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. The hit song from the album, “Tolkien (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)” has had over one million MP3s downloaded since its initial release in 2000. The Bards are friendly and jovial on and off stage and engage their listeners in the culture of Ireland and Scotland, while making them laugh to contemporary parodies and filks. It’s a musical experience that shouldn’t be missed!
