Since 2002, every summer a number of Tolkien fans meet up in the city centre of the Professor’s home town, Oxford, for an informal weekend of fun, good conversation and the odd pint of beer.
Over the years this has been attended by many different people, not just from the UK but from all over the world. They have, without exception, always been extremely fun and enjoyable weekends.
This year’s Moot, on the 12th – 14th August, is the Tenth such event and promises to be a special occasion! If it sounds like it might be your sort of thing please do come and visit us on the forums, have a look at the planning thread and let us know if you intend to come.
For details and to see who’s already going, check out the Oxford Moot thread in our forums!
As mentioned, it is an informal and relaxed gathering. All attendees make their own arrangements and can turn up for as much or as little of the weekend as they like. There are some planned activities, such as punting
on the river or visiting museums and we usually have evening meals together in a restaurant.
Absolutely everyone is welcome (although under 16s must be accompanied by an adult), we are a friendly and laid back bunch and only one or two of us are axe-murderers ;).
