Inkling Exhibit: – Memorabilia at The Museum of Oxford

by Oct 27, 1999Events

LeafletThe Tolkien Society has posted some information about an upcoming exhibit of Inkling Memorabilia at the Museum of Oxford.

The exhibition has authentic material on the lives and works of JRR Tolkien, C S Lewis and Charles Williams. It will be running until 28th November 1999.

The Inklings were a group of Anglo/Irish writers and friends who met as a community of like-minded thinkers and readers to create some of the 20th Century’s best fantasy literature, Christian apologetics, and commentary on what they saw as the demise of Western Culture.

The essential set of Inklings include C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams and J. R. R. Tolkien. There were other “honorary” Inklings”, i.e., those who influenced them, collaborated with them, or who were influenced by them (e.g., George MacDonald, G. K. Chesterton, Owen Barfield, Warren [“Warnie”] Lewis, Helen Joy Davidman Gresham, and Dorothy L. Sayers).

If anybody ends up going to this event drop us an e-mail about how it went. If anybody lives in the area and needs some incentive to go, drop us an e-mail and we will work out some compensation.
