NewsWire: Record Price Paid for Tolkien’s Hobbit at Auction – Associated Press

Last Friday, the first edition of Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” from 1937 fetched 43,020 pounds (dlrs 66,630) at a Sotheby’s action in London. The book was inscribed by the author to his aunt, having been signed within two weeks of publication. Sotheby’s said it was the highest price ever paid at an auction for a copy of a Tolkien classic.
