First announced in 2019, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, is finally getting a release date: September 1st.  Developer Daedelic Entertainment also announced that the game will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S (a Nintendo Switch version will be coming “later this year”.

September 1st is the day before Amazon’s Rings of Power series premieres–the launch date certainly wasn’t chosen by accident.

The game’s mechanics rely on Gollum’s sneakiness to move around and get you to your destinations.  There’s also quite a bit of wall climbing, jumping, and Assassin’s Creed-style gameplay (scroll down to the 2nd video to see some gameplay).

Lord of the Rings games haven’t been known to make much of a dent in the world of gaming (though Lord of the Rings Online is still active, even more so after changing ownership in 2016) — perhaps a smaller, more agile game developer like Daedalus will surprise us with something more unique and engaging!
