I know there’s tons of Tolkien fans in both Ukraine and Russia, so I’m not judging anyone in this post. It was, however, interesting to me to read how the invaders were referred to as “orcs” in online posts. And there were many quotes circulating, namely, “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.” Obviously, Tolkien’s writing (being a WW1 veteran) resonates with people going through conflict, like few other authors can.

That’s a movie line and I feel like it’s not really akin to what Tolkien wrote, his theme was the Long Defeat.

Good call, that quote is not from the book. It just is interesting that the word “Orc” is the very worst thing to call someone in the war.
