Warner Bros. Interactive Development announced today that they will be delaying the previously announced family-oriented Lord of the Rings game, Aragorn’s Quest, until spring 2010.

While no reason was given for the delay, there could be a marketing decision to delay this game until the filming of The Hobbit is a major news item again, allowing them to tap into the expected fan fervency you’ll see then… we’ll see if they can pull off getting people excited about a family-friendly LOTR game (maybe they should’ve gone the LEGO LOTR route, just like Star Wars did with their quite fun Lego Star Wars games–yes… I’ll admit it… I played them AND enjoyed them! 🙂 ).

As we reported in May, Aragorn’s Quest will be “the first Lord of the Rings videogame created specifically for kids and their families”, where players will control Aragorn, protecting the Ringbearer and the fellowship on their quest, all set in a “a friendly, colorful rendition of Middle-Earth” with players engaging in sword fights, lancing, and archery.
