A series of The Lord of the Rings collectors coins are to be struck by the Royal Mint later this year.
The coins will be made in gold, silver and cupro-nickel for New Zealand Post and designs will be launched in a few months.
Struck in several denominations from 10 dollars to 50 cents, the coins will be legal tender in New Zealand where the Peter Jackson’s films of the popular fantasy novels by JRR Tolkien were filmed.
They will be available in individual presentation packs and limited edition sets.
Selected coins will be available towards the end of the year to coincide with the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers video and DVD and the premiere of the final part of the film trilogy, The Return of the King.–Ananova News
