ArdaCon 2026, the world’s largest Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game (MESBG) gathering, has announced its dates for August 5–9, 2026, at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel. The event marks a significant milestone — not only as the 10th anniversary of ArdaCon, but as a testament to the remarkable resurgence of MESBG interest in the 25th anniversary year of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings films.

The World Championships — the crown jewel of the week-long event — sold out in April 2026 with 246 players, reflecting unprecedented demand. That’s a remarkable turnout for a tabletop miniatures game that has quietly maintained one of the most dedicated fanbases in gaming.

MESBG, Games Workshop’s miniatures skirmish game based on the Jackson films, has seen a notable renaissance. New collectors, returning veterans, and a thriving tournament scene have converged around a game that never quite faded, but is now experiencing a second golden age. ArdaCon is the center of that community — a freeE fan convention that combines high-stakes competitive play with hobby workshops and fellowship.

The 2026 schedule includes the World Doubles Championship, Last Chance Qualifier, painting workshops with Jonathan Pfund and Wavecolors Tabletop Art, and the “ArdaConaut” — a day trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham for the brave.
