The Impossible Come True-Part Two - The Journey

Frodo placed his hands around the warm mug of tea as Gandalf began to tell him of the Ring. Elenya listened closely after she had seen with her own eyes the fiery letters upon its band.

" This is the One Ring forged by the dark lord Sauron in the fires of Mount Doom taken by Isildur from the hand of Sauron himself!" Gandalf said taking a smoke from his pipe.

" Bilbo found it in Gollum's cave," Frodo said slowly.

" For a time it was safely sequestered in Bilbo's keeping was it not Gandalf?" Elenya spoke up.

" Yes, it was. But no longer Frodo," he turned to Frodo. " It's heard his master's call."

" But he was destroyed! Sauron was destroyed!" Frodo said aloud.
" No Frodo the spirit of Sauron endured!" Gandalf said sullenly.

Gandalf preceded to tell Frodo the entire history of the Ring as well as the fact that the Ringwraiths were coming for the Ring.

" Take it Gandalf!" Frodo said holding the Ring up.

" No Frodo!" Gandalf said sternly.

" I want you to take it!"

" Do not tempt me Frodo!" Gandalf yelled out. " I dare not take it. Not even to keep it safe. You see Frodo. I would use this Ring out of a desire to do good but through me it would weild a power to great to imagine."

" Elenya?" Frodo looked pleadingly at her.

" Do not look to me to solve this dilemma," she objected taking a step back.

Frodo concealed the Ring in his hand, " What must I do?"

Frodo began to pack when Gandalf told him to leave and quickly.

" Where should I go?" Frodo asked.

" You mean where do we go?" Elenya added helping Frodo to pack.

" You're not coming," Frodo objected.

" There's nothing you can do or say to make me stay."

" But you're a girl!" Frodo wished he could take the words back.

" So? Some women's hearts have been stronger than men. They're determination certainly is. My fire is very strong as is my independence. I can be very useful to you. Gandalf?" Elenya asked him.

" You should not go alone Frodo," Gandalf agreed.

Suddenly, a noise was heard from outside the window. Frodo dropped to the floor as Gandalf approached it with his staff. He immediately reached into the grass and pulled up the chubby Samwise Gamgee and flung him on the table.

" Confound it all Samwise Gamgee! Have you been eavesdropping?" Gandalf yelled at the frightened Sam.

" I beg your pardon Mr. Gandalf sir. There aint no eaves in the Shire for a fact. I was just cutting the grass there on the verge."

" A little late for trimming the verge? What did you hear?" Gandalf shouted at him.

" Nothin important sir. On my honour. Well, that is I heard a great deal of a Ring a Dark Lord and something about the end of the world."

Elenya let out a brief laugh at Sam when he continued, " Please Mr. Gandalf sir don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything unnatural."

" Come inside Samwise," Gandalf continued. " So you heard Frodo is going away?"

" That's why I choked sir and made that noise. I was so upset!" Sam answered.

" It can't be helped," Frodo said to Sam. " But if you realy care for me, you will keep it a dead secret. See? If you don't and breathe a word to anyone, Gandalf will turn into a spotted toad and fill the garden full of grass snakes."

Sam fell on his knees trembling, and Elenya continued to laugh until Gandalf raised his hand to speak.

" Get up Sam! I have thought of something better than that. Something to shut your mouth then punish you properly for listening. You shall go away with Frodo and the elf!"

" Me sir?!" cried Sam. " Me go and sell Elves and all? Hooray!" and then Sam burst into tears.

Sam, Frodo, and Elenya had been on their journey for many days and two other companions had joined them. Merry and Pippin. Emilie was glad of their company though she felt odd being the only girl among four men. They had made it to the old forest. Emilie was eagerly anticipating the next part of the journey. She hoped to make a difference in the story. The companions had stopped to rest by the Old Willow Tree. Emilie forced herself to stay awake but fell into the Tree's spell and fell asleep.

When she awoke, Sam was shaking her ferociously.

" Awake elf! I need your help!" Sam shouted.

She immediately got up cursing herself for falling asleep. She helped Sam pull Frodo from the root of the tree.

" You know Sam? That beastly tree threw me in! I felt it! The root twisted me around and tipped me in!:

" You were dreaming Frodo," Elenya told him.

The trio realized that Pippin and Merry were no longer with them. She went to the other side of the tree and saw their feet sticking out. Pippin had vanished through the crack. Merry's legs still showed and though Elenya and Sam tried desperately to pull them out, the tree was stronger. They tried the next best thing fire, but the tree threatened to kill Merry and Pippin when a voice was heard singing. Emilie knew instantly who it was.

Hey dol! Merry dol! Ring a dong dillo!
Ring a dong! Hop along! Fal lal the willow!
Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!

Tom helped them to release the two hobbits from the tree. He then took them home to Goldberry. Emilie couldn't wait to see her but was dreading the next part of the journey. Something she hoped to avoid.
