Elenya_Lives - A Day in Duluth

"Oh Leo! This is perfect!"

Emilie smiled and sipped at her coconut milkshake from the Malt Shoppe. She rarely ever liked malts, but she did enjoy milkshakes. Leo drank a simple chocolate malt though she tried to persuade him to purchase something more exciting. He said chocolate was exciting enough for him, and if it seemed simple to her, she should learn to enjoy the simple things in life. They walked to the balcony a couple blocks away and gazed at Superior's crystal waters. Emilie loved Duluth since it was a little cooler in temperature as well. She could wear jeans and a light t-shirt, and it felt nice. Leo slipped an arm around her shoulders.

"You like it don't you?" he asked her.

"Yes, I do. I'll never forget this."

"There'll be more fun tomorrow," he winked at her, and a sparkle appeared in her eye.

"Come on," he took her hand and began leading her down the steep stairs to the boardwalk near the lake. "Let's walk to those quaint little mall shops near the shore."

"Do you like it?" Emilie asked doing a twirl in the knee length light blue dress.

Leo turned and his eyes widened at the girl standing before him.

"It looks beautiful," he smiled. "We'll get it, and you will wear it tonight."

"Leo," she neared him. "It's kind of expensive."

"I'm taking my girl out. Blast the cost!" he kissed her cheek. "It's almost evening now, so just keep it on, and we'll walk to that restaurant you love."

"Thank you," she smiled.

The store clerk rang up the tags, and Leo purchased an extra little trinket while the tags on Emilie's dress were being cut off. They walked out into the fresh air, and Legolas slipped the silver chain with the blue stone around her neck. Emilie fingered it but frowned.

"Leo," as if to say *you really shouldn't have*.

Leo kissed her brow and took her hand. Sometimes, he seemed so mysterious to her. At times, he seemed like the perfect gentlemen, Legolas. Other times, he was more like Leo. He was two personalities combined. She wondered, if they ever returned to Middle Earth, would he regain his entire memory? They walked a couple miles more until they reached Canal Park. It was simple for the couple since they were both elven spirits at heart.

"Leo," Emilie set down her fork and met his eyes.

"Hmm?" he asked.

"You know I love you, don't you?"

"Do you always begin conversations this way?"

"We used to have conversations like this all the time."

Emilie heard a low manly grunt exit from his mouth.

"So you don't love me?" she assumed and twittered her thumbs.

"It's not like that, Elenya, Emilie," he corrected. "I remember you clearly, but I am still having trouble with my memories. You do not know but the flashbacks are pain. It's painful when you have a flashback and you can't remember anything of the memory. It sounds ridiculous, but I need you to be patient with me."

"I'm trying, but you know patience is not one of my virtues."

"Yes, your stubbornness is one of the things I love about you."

The waiter came over and lit a candle since they were sitting outside, and it was growing dark. Emilie fingered the blue stone that Leo had given her, but he noticed her other hand was shaking. Legolas took it in his hand and felt her skin.

"You are cold. What is it?" he asked.

"Something is coming. Something is going to happen soon."
Legolas wrapped his white trench coat around her. He had suggested returning to the hotel, but Emilie wanted to sink her toes into the sand again. The wind was blowing harder this night, and Emilie shivered. Legolas took her waist in his hands while facing her and drew her to himself to keep her warm. He surprised her by capturing her mouth in a soft kiss. When he stopped, Emilie looked at him in surprise.

"I did it to stop the shivering," he told her.

Emilie shivered again but this time it was purposefully.

"Goodnight," Emilie said returning his trench coat and opening the door.

"Wait," he took her hand firmly.

Emilie turned and met Leo's soft lips brushing against her own barely touching but sending the most wonderful jolts through her system.

"Now that," he said, "was an impulse inspired by the soft rays of moonlight falling on the exquisite start before me."

That sounded like Legolas. He took her hand and kissed it lovingly.

"Namarie, lirimaer." *Farewell lovely one*.

Emilie returned to her room and changed into her silk pajamas. She let her now wavy long hair tumble down her back. It had been colored and waved recently, and streaks of gold were hidden inside the dark waves. Emilie escaped under the covers and fell asleep dreaming of Legolas.
