Arenial- The Extraordinary Elf. - Part 6 ~Questions and Answers~
"Oh," was all Arenial could say. "I don't know what to say."
"Then don't say anything."
"Hey, Maddox, you're needed over here!" an Elf called to Maddox.
"Well, bye," he said to Arenial and walked over to a group of Elvs who needed his help with something.
Arenial was shocked. No one had ever said they loved her, besides her father. How could Maddox, her kidnapper, love her? She was angry at him. If he really loved her, he would have told her the truth. She watched him as he talked to the other Elves. He looked up and she gave him one of those "Don't -talk-to-me-or-I'll-hurt-you" looks. The night wore on and Arenial eventually fell asleep.
The next morning, Arenial was awakened by a hard kick in her side. She tried her hardest to keep from crying out, but her side ached like nothing she had felt before. She was given a little bit of bread, and a sip of water, and they were on their way.
The day was long and the and no one spoke. Maddox tried, many times, to get Arenial's attention, and when he did, she just glared at him, her eyes black with anger.
Arenial felt hersalf getting weaker as the day wore on. She had not eaten anything, save the scrap of bread, since the day before. She stumbled many times on the road, partly because she was dizzy from the heat, partly because of hunger.
But, at last, they came to the palace. It was large and made of stone. It wasn't built in the trees like other Elven homes. Once inside, Arenial was led down a long corridor, that was only lit by torches, and into a large room. It, too, was lit by torches along the walls and a large torch hanging from the roof. A red carpet led from the door to a throne where Arenial could see and Elf sitting on it. Arenial was led to the throne and the Elf rose.
"So, I see Maddox did his job. Well done." Maddox hung his head shamefully.
"Who are you?" Arenial asked.
"I think the question is, who are you, Arenial?," said the Elf.
"How do you know my name?"
"All in good time, milady, all in good time. Guards, bring in the prisoner. I wan't him to hear this as well.," The guards left.
"Hear what?," Arenial asked.
A moment later, the guards came back with the prisoner, Legolas.
"Legolas!," Arenial cried.
At the sound of his name, Legolas looked up, "Arenial? Arenial what are you doing here?"
"To tell you the truth, I haven't the slightest idea why"
Arenial looked back at the Elf, "Who are you? Why am I here?"
"To answer your first question, I am Lord Randos and, as for your second question, that will take some explaining. So, let's start at the beginning, shall we? But, I warn you, what I have to tell you may come as a shock. Arenial, you are one of the Maiar."
"What?," Arenial asked, Legolas's eyes widened as he looked at Arenial. "A Maia? How do you know? How do I know you're telling the truth?"
"Arenial, you control flame. Go ahead, concentrate on that torch over there and tell it to light."
Arenial looked at the torch Lord Randos had pointed to, concectrated on it and, sure enough, it burst into flame.
"But, how do you know about it?" Arenial asked again.
"My father was hungry for power. He wanted to rule the Elves, and then, possibly, the world. And, he loved your mother. But, he know she was a Maia. He knew she would reject it he asked her hand in marriage. So, he came up with a plan. He planed to kidnap her and force her to become his wife. But, she found out and escaped before they could capture her. She went to Mirkwood and you father befriended her. But, soon, they fell in love and were married. My father had scouts all over Mirkwood. Soon, he found out she had given birth to a child. My father eventually married another, but he really only loved your mother. He was killed in battle but, before he died, he told me about you."
"Do you know why my mother disappeared?"
"As far as I know, my father still wanted her so he planned, again, to kidnap her. But, your mother had the gift of foresight, and she saw what was going to happen so she left."
"Oh." Arenial said softly, "But why am I here?"
"Because you will help me rule the Elves."
"NO!" Arenial cried.
"But why? You couldn't possibly love her." Legolas said.
"Love, what do you know about love?," Randos asked. Legolas looked down, and Lord Randos came to a sudden realization, "You love Arenial, Legolas Greenleaf, Prince of Mirkwood."
Legolas looked up, but said nothing.
"Legolas, is this true?," Arenial asked.
Legolas looked at her and nodded.
"Oh, enough of this. Guards, bring Arenial to her chambers and bring Legolas back to the dungeon." Randos ordered.
"Legolas!," Arenial cried, "Put me down. I can walk by myself!" She ordered the guard who was hald carrying half dragging her.
Lord Randos chuckled to himself. He finally had power in his grasp. He had been practicing Black Magic and could control anything. With Arenial's Fire Power, he would be even more powerful.
Arenial looked around the room the guard had brought her to. "Not much of a room." she thought. There was a large window on one side and a dresser on the other. In the middle of the room was a cot with a few blankets. Arenial found her pack on the bed. She would need it. She sat down on the bed. It was hard and not very confortable. "How can I get out of here?", she asked herself. She went over to the window and looked down. Her room was about 10 feet off the ground. Well, she knew how she would escape, but what about Legolas? She couldn't leave him here. Arenial sat back down on the bed and drew her legs up tp her chest. "A Maia. I'm a Maia!" she thought. She was still in a slight shock at the news.
It was all quite hopless, trying to escape and getting Legolas out of there as well. And, Legolas, he loved her? That wa quite unexpected. A silent tear rolled down her cheek. Her life was a mess. The day she found out that Legolas loved her, she found out she was going to marry some Elf, just so he could rule the Elves. And, on top of that, Haldir was really Maddox. She sighed as some more tears came to her eyes.
There was a knock on the door and Maddox came in.
"What do you want?" Arenial asked him.
"First of all, no one knows I'm here so I can't talk long. But, I came to apologize and ask your forgivness. I knoe I should have told you the truth and, to this day, I don't know what I didn't. But, I truly am sorry and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me."
"Well, there came one good thing out of you lying." Arenial said.
"And what would that be? I can't imagine anything good about this."
"If I hadn't come here, I would never have found Legolas. I would have gone to Lorien and found him gone, And, then, he would probably die and I couldn't bear to let that happen. So, I thank you for that."
"Well, in the meantime, I think I could help you escape."
"How do I know I can trust you?"
"I wish I could give you a reason, Arenial. But, I'm asking you to. Not just for your sake, but for mine also. I'm sick of evil and I'm sick of this place. I want to be good like you."
Arenial didn't want to believe him, but something in his eyes told her he was telling the truth. Arenial couldn't feel any evil in him. "Alright, I'll give you a second chance, but we have to act quickly."
So, Arenial and Maddox devised a plan to escape. Maddox would get Legolas passed the guards and onto Arenial's horse. Arenial would lower herself out her window and meet them there. The would, then, run for all they were worth.
Maddox walked down to the dungeon. "The Lord Randos requests the prisoners presence."
The guard opened Legolas's cell and Maddox helped him up the stairs. The, when he was sure no one was around, he made for the stables. He found Larien in a stall near the back, She recognized and whined a greeting. "Shh, girl. We don't want to desterb anyone now do we?" Larien calmed down and Maddox set Legolas on top of her back. Then he quietly led her to Arenial's window, always alert for guards, and found her waiting on the ground.
"Arenial, what's going on?," Legolas asked.
"Shhh. We're getting you out of here. Now come on."
Arenial jumped onto Larien's back, behind Legolas, and pulled her horse into a full gallop, Maddox running beside her. By this time, a number of guards had been alerted of the escape and were shooting arrows at Arenila, Maddox, and Legolas. Arenial set the arrows on fire, with her powers, but more kept coming. One hit Maddox in the shoulder and another pierced his leg.
Maddox cried out in pain and Arenial pulled Larien to a sudden halt. She jumped down and helped Maddox onto her horse. Then she told Larien to gallop away and she would follow, They didn't stop until dark and they were sure no one was following them.
