I am almost ashamed to post this, because it is not what you would call a good piece of writing, but I ran across a discussion on the message-boards the other day dealing with the question of why Galadriel married "a dolt like Celeborn". I agreed with them in many ways because Celeborn was impulsive, hot-headed, and certainly not the sharpest arrow in the Middle-earth quiver, but I wanted to defend his reputation from those who would have handed him some embroidery and sent him upstairs to watch soaps while the action was going on. Surely Galadriel would have been too wise to marry a completely useless idiot? I think so, but what was Celeborn's part in the war of the ring? Maybe this will give another perspective on something that has had many of us wondering for a while...
