The One Ring - a sonnet
Blazing brightly golden from the darkness
Speaking of glory, dealing just in pain,
Drags the unwary down in its fastness
With promise of greatness and lordship and gain.
The strong of mind might resist Its power
The meek might not be ensnared by Its nets
Most will be trapped within finding hour
And obey, unknowing, like slave or pet.
O! Free peoples, forsake this evil thing,
Slayer of good! Darkness personified!
The allure of the Darkness in the Ring!
I knew one tried to take it, took it, died!
How ever many trials you have bested
Thank your lucky stars you've not been tested.
