The Elves are Leaving Middle Earth - Leaving....

Leaving the hills and valleys, and the mist that comes at dawn
Leaving the silent waters, and the shaping of the years
Leaving the elven-forests, and the woods that made their home
The elves are leaving Middle Earth; a world weeps bitter tears.

Leaving the whispering mountains and the slopes of grassy hills
The sunlight streaming down from airy castles in the sky
Leaving the songs to be sung by others, the legends to be told
For the elves are leaving Middle Earth, and the years are passing by.

Leaving the quiet firesides and bare but mighty halls
The places they held dear shall now be but a memory
And if they're forgotten, will the world recall, the glory days of old,
When the elves have gone from Middle Earth, across the luring sea?

The world will feel the loss, when you no longer walk the earth
By hills and valleys, through silent waters, at the starlight's birth.
No more to roam the forests and the cloudy castles high,
Above the mountains and their peaks, that rise into the sky.

For the elves are leaving Middle Earth, farewell, O mighty race!
You built a world fair, now go, remembering your song
That we shall sing throughout the years, and tell the endless tales
While seated by the firesides, with shadows growing long.

Farewell to you, but never to your boundless legacy!
Even though you shall depart across the luring Sea.

Leaving the hills and valleys, and the mist that comes at dawn
Leaving the silent waters, and the shaping of the years
Leaving the elven-forests, and the woods that made their home
The elves are leaving Middle Earth; a world weeps bitter tears.
