The bane of Isildur

Isildur's bane is found this day
And shudders does the earth,
And as the whisper'd rumor spreads
The birds do cease to sing.

Isildur's bane is found this day
And no sun can warm the pain
And darness sweeps across the lands
And the trees do listen, still.

Isildur's bane is found this day
And nothing can it disregard,
For evil lived, and liveth so,
And cannot be boiling still.

Isildur's bane is found this day,
In the West lay lands,
In a hobbit's safest hole,
Away from trouble's greed.

Yet Isildur's bane is found this day,
And none can this deny:
The Ring is found, and he cannot know,
Or we will all sure die.
