Melody of Tears - for Eowyn

Pelting sorrows like stones of grief
All your life they've chased you to this breaking point
Like the soft whisper of crumbling autumn leaves
These whispers of despair with darkness join
So how long can you keep up this stone?
Holding back the river you've dammed so long?
How long till the moss-fingers have grown
Trapping you behind your own wall of silence?
Parched and dry--where is the rain?
Do you have the strength to let it go again?

Release the river
That the healing may begin
Roll away the stone
That the parched world may be made new again
The rains have been held back too long
The healing is slow in coming
Let the waters pour out their silver song
There is life in tears as there is life in rain
You've barred back the dam for far too long
Let the parched lands of your sorrow be renewed again
By the melody of tears

A flower that has withered and crumbled
Threatening to become dust if blown by the wrong wind
Dark clouds above the desert lands do rumble
Choked black with the long held back rains
If they never fall, never touch the dusty ground
The withered plants may die beneath the harsh rays of the sun
If they never trickle through the wasted fields, and around
Around the blowing leaves that crumbling have fallen
Where is the river--the healing of the river?
With the melody of the stars in its rushing waters?

Release the river
That the healing may begin
Roll away the stone
That the parched world may be made new again
The rains have been held back too long
The healing is slow in coming
Let the waters pour out their silver song
There is life in tears as there is life in rain
You've barred back the dam for far too long
Let the parched lands of your sorrow be renewed again
By the melody of tears

Life is given by the falling of the rain
Rain-wash of tears to heal the withered soul
Rolling torrent of a river sets the stars a-dance again
Washing away the clouds that have overshadowed so long
Release the rain-song; let it sing like the nightingale
Infinite grief, may it trail into the sky
Letting loose and overcoming the deadly gale
Letting the songs of your tears fly
Let the desert wash away from the clinging years
Giving way to the melody of tears

Release the river
That the healing may begin
Roll away the stone
That the parched world may be made new again
The rains have been held back too long
The healing is slow in coming
Let the waters pour out their silver song
There is life in tears as there is life in rain
You've barred back the dam for far too long
Let the parched lands of your sorrow be renewed again
By the melody of tears
