Cages and Bars (Song for Éowyn)

Cages and Bars (Song for Éowyn)

I learned long ago
That those without swords
May still die upon them
Life is rarely fair
Spring yet clings to winters chill

In the bitterness of the night
When my life seems to shrink
When the walls of my bower
Close in about me, then I find my fear
I fear a cage
Living my life behind bars
And one day accepting them

I fear not death
I refuse to flinch from pain
My fear is a silent one
Devouring me from within
I have only spoken of it in darkness

In the bitterness of the night
When my life seems to shrink
When the walls of my bower
Close in about me, then I find my fear
I fear a cage
Living my life behind bars
And one day accepting them

Yet when night passes
And then bitterness slowly fades
I realize
I am a daughter of the King
A cage is not my fate

Note: I do realize Éowyn was not the daughter of the king. I added that because it helps with relating it to real life. *dodges tomatos from purists*
