Arwen on the death of Aragorn

Thy black veil hides thy fair face,
And queen, thy king he rests,
And tears marr thy flawless skin,
But just are thy tears for love.

How long shall thee stand,
And mourn for his life,
He who loved thee so
For all things must end.

Weep still, fair elf, yet tears,
They cannot change what is,
Or what has passed,
For this is the mortal life.

How long does it seem
Since autum did pass,
And winter's cold mist covered thee,
Like the lingered life thee live.

Now winter dawns, the cold night
Without a star, that was promised to thee,
As thy skin still held its youthful hue,
And thee were immortal still.

So in mourning stand, by the loves tomb,
As remember him as he was in his life,
And seek no comfort now from the stars,
For under winter's frost they do wan.

So now thy black veil hides thy fair face,
And queen, thy king he there rests,
And tears marr thy flawless skin,
But just are thy tears for love.
