"Papa, save the world"

I sit staring off into the distance.
Depressed at his absense,
and the joy that is lost.
"Will he come back?"
my mind clings to hope
"he is alive" I whisper in unbelief.
I drag my feet all the way home
not looking back
for fear of disappointment.
"Father! be safe"
my mind cries it's silent plea.
I walk home to comfort mom
as she rocks back, and
forth in her chair.
Still her lips don't move,
and they
won't till he's back.
Still in her despair
we give strength
to each other.
Alway knowing
papa is off to save the world.
