"After initial doubts that The Lord of The Rings could ever be successfully brought to the big screen, a United States Tolkien expert says the film is a 'magnificent' achievement. 'I was doubtful at the start that it could be pulled off but the more I learned about it the more optimistic I became,' Michael Stanton, who lectured on Rings author J R R Tolkien for more than 25 years at Vermont University, said.
