NewsWire: Dwarf's high praise for director - New Zealand Herald

Though Rhys-Davies may be the size of an Ewok on the screen, Gimli won't be quite the same...
"Bigger than Star Wars"? That's quite a statement, and I think I'll reserve judgement until I've seen all three LOTR flicks...

Dwarf's high praise for director

New Zealand Herald - November 12, 2000

The British actor who plays the dwarf Gimli in the Lord of the Rings trilogy has high praise for Peter Jackson's directing skills.

The production team says it is on schedule to finish shooting the trilogy next month and is delighted with the way its work is turning out.

Actor John Rhys-Davis says director Peter Jackson deserves a knighthood for the work he has done.

He says the films will bring huge benefits to New Zealand and this country should expect tourism spin-offs for years to come as the scenery is so spectacular.

Mr Rhys-Davis believes the film will be the biggest of all time, bigger than Star Wars.
