Blanchett Goes All Out For Oz - Empire Online

In an article about Cate Blanchett's participation in the 7th London Australian Film Festival, Empire Online managed to squeeze in a question or two about her role as Galadriel:

Blanchett, herself is hardly and opponent of the odd blockbuster franchise, returning down-under to take the role of elven queen Galadriel in The Lord of The Rings. "I had actually never been to New Zealand before," she told us. "I loved it. It was extraordinary, one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. New Zealand’s the youngest land-mass in the world and it’s really savage. The perfect place to film this trilogy." Gagged by the studio’s seal of secrecy, Blanchett was unable to shed much light on the production but did share a certain affinity for some aspects of her character, "I loved the ears," she said of the prosthetics, which she subseqently kept. "They were incredibly fetching, my husband loves them."
