McKellen and Serkis Sign On to The Hobbit as Gandalf and Gollum
And confirming what we all suspected was a given, EW.com is reporting the Ian McKellen has officially signed on as Gandalf.
This means that in the last couple of days we've seen three LOTR alumni reprising their roles in The Hobbit, with the expectation that Hugo Weaving will once again portray Elrond, and Cate Blanchett, Galadriel. The rumour also remains that Orlando Bloom will have a cameo as Legolas in the films (which--while not written in the book--could indeed have happened).
And if that wasn't enough, Deadline is also talking about the notion that Christopher Lee may reprise his role of Saruman... and with that, it might just be a bit too much LOTR in The Hobbit.
