Peter Jackson has posted on his facebook page a 6 minute excerpt from the live event for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug that took place back on March 24th.
The Hobbit's on Pinterest! Kinda... well, not really...

Looks like we'll have an extra 5 months of anticipation for the final film in The Hobbit trilogy--it's been moved from July 18, 2014 to December 17, 2014. Why?

Weta Digital (Peter Jackson's special effects company) yesterday released a great video showing some glimpses of what filming looked like versus what the final film resulted in. Some pretty stuninng shots here.

Here's a photo floating about the 'net showing Bilbo swathed in spider webs and leaning (thrusting?) on Sting.

Purchase the DVD/Blu-ray of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey before March 24th, and you can get a sneak peek at the 2nd Hobbit Film.

Though it seems to me that The Hobbit just came out in theatres, it looks like we'll be able to watch it at home starting March 19th (in the US at least)!
Vulture talked to Hobbit screenwriter Phillippa Boyens recently and found out some interesting information about how we'll see details of the story fleshed out in the second film.

The bigger question that this brings up for me is this: Where exactly will The Desolation of Smaug end? Entering Smaug's lair? Over Laketown with Bard firing his arrow? After Smaug's defeat? What do you think?
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey broke records for a film opening in December both domestically and internationally.

The Hobbit drew huge crowds on Friday, setting a new December opening day record with an estimated $37.5 million.

Now that you've seen it... what'd you think? Good? Bad? Too much? Too little?

Peter Jackson has released the final production video for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and this one's all about the premiere in Wellington, New Zealand.

After a couple of years of waiting, watching, hoping, sweating, and wishing, we will all have the opportunity to see The Hobbit this weekend!

Now you can drink in the same pub as Bilbo and Frodo as The Green Dragon begins serving visitors to the Hobbiton set near Matama, New Zealand.
