Today is the thirty-fifth anniversary of J. R. R. Tolkien's death.

The Tolkien Grave SiteThe One Ring.net has posted an article detailing the events that led to the great author's death 35 years ago today, including letters that he sent, details on what he was adding to Middle-earth, and the last known photograph of the man.

Since The Hobbit was first published in 1937, it has sold over 100,000,000 copies. The Lord of the Rings has sold more than 150,000,000 copies since 1954. Together they have sold more copies than any other work of fiction.
