And here is what IGN Filmforce had to say about these figures:

Toy Biz unveiled their line of Lord of the Rings figures, and if I were asked to hand out a prize for the surprise of the show, it would be for these figures. If Toy Biz can bring the prototypes on display to toy store shelves, Toy Biz has outdone themselves – and much of the competition. Using the latest in laser scanning techniques to capture the likenesses of the actors, these figures are some of the most accurate likenesses I have ever seen. Like the comparisons I made between the Shrek animated feature and the Shrek figures offered by McFarlane (see the previous Toy Fair reports), it was difficult to identify any differences between photographs of the cast and their character’s figures. Moreover, to be fair, the Lord of the Rings line deals with human beings, so this achievement should not be overlooked. While it cannot be argued that the accuracy is aided by the laser scans of the actors, the sculptors at Toy Biz deserve a little credit as well. It had to be pointed out to me that the head on Cate Blanchett’s Galadriel 12-inch actually wasn’t based on a laser scan (the sculpt based on the laser scan had not yet been approved). Available in both 12-inch and standard sizes, the line also breaks new ground in that the figures are scaled – tall characters will be tall, and small characters like Hobbits will be proportionally smaller. Toy Biz’s completist approach extends beyond getting relative sizes correct – they are also thinking of the consumer. Within the standard size figure line, it may be perceived that larger figures are a better value when placed along side smaller figures selling at the same price. However, Toy Biz will package smaller figures with interactive playsets based on scenes from the film. Getting a Hobbit doesn’t mean getting cheated. Bravo, Toy Biz.
