Bookstores Nationwide Celebrate The Lord of the Rings On November 8th at 1:00 pm Local Time - Ian McKellen and Sean Astin Make Appearances in New York and Los Angeles To Kick Off Special Bookstore Events Across the Country

Gearing up for the December 19 release of New Line Cinema's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, bookstores around the country will celebrate the publication of Houghton Mifflin's movie tie-in books, The Lord of the Rings Official Movie Guide, by Brian Sibley, and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Visual Companion, by Jude Fisher. Sir Ian McKellen, who stars as Gandalf in the epic trilogy, and Sean Astin, who plays the hobbit Samwise Gamgee, will make appearances in New York and Los Angeles, respectively.

November 8 at 1:00pm will also see the debut of an exclusive 20-minute behind-the-scenes video, commissioned by Houghton Mifflin, that traces the project from the publication of J.R.R. Tolkien's first works to the monumental undertaking of director Peter Jackson's trilogy of films, at bookstores around the country.

In New York, Ian McKellen will appear at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square on Thursday at 1:00pm to speak and answer questions. In Los Angeles, Sean Astin will appear at Brentano's in the Beverly Center at 1:00 pm to speak and answer questions.

A complete list of booksellers debuting the exclusive video can be found at the Houghton Mifflin website.
