Xenite.org reports that Glass Hammer has cancelled has canceled its performance at Dragoncon due to a recent injury. Although the injury is minor, it was sufficient to prevent one of the musicians from practicing for the concert. Steve Babb and Fred Schendel have also cancelled their Friday (August 31) session in the Tolkien and Middle-earth track, but they will appear on Sunday, September 2. For more information, CLICK HERE
Michael Martinez of Xenite.org tells us the exciting news that John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) will be the special guest at this year's Dragoncon, which will be held in Atlanta, GA from Friday, August 31, through Monday, September 3. The game will consist of a three-part quest for each player. Part one will be the characters' personal goal of the game. Part two: this will be the Main Goal of the Event for your race. Herr der Ringe reports that The German distributer Kinowelt will present footage from the first movie at the Internationale Funkausstellung in Berlin at the Pioneer booth. Currently it´s not clear if they will show only the teaser-trailers or new unpublished footage.
Silvia sadly reports that LOTR Cannes footage that was too be shown at this weekend's Tolkien convention in Padova, Italy, failed to arrive in times, "thanks" to the Italian postal service. "It was arriving this morning, but the exhibition ended yesterday. The organizer told us that hey are going to make a new exhibition in October, where we will be able to watch it."
A member of the Bloomin' Marvelous message group writes: "Some of my friends who live in Padova (a city in the north of Italy) told me that next Sunday,in a exhibition about Tolkien that is held in these days in their city, they will show the 20 minutes of LOTR that have been presented in Cannes!" According to TemnyLord, Peter Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring will premiere on December 20th in Slovak cinemas.
If you don't receive an invitation to the premiere, then the place to be for die-hard Lord of the Rings fans on Dec. 19 will be in a movie theater in New Zealand. By dint of proximity to the international dateline, New Zealand moviegoers will be almost a whole day ahead of U.S. viewers when the first part of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, the Fellowship of the Ring, is released for viewing to the general public.
