This is when the trouble started. Did I mention near-riots in Bree? Well, we had near-riots in Bree. You see, The Prancing Pony Inn, (the Greenbriar Room at the Hyatt), is not a large room. It can hold probably 70 or so people before you start breaking the Fire Code. Well, over 200 people showed up for the Evening in Bree Party. We were, of course, delighted at this. We were, unfortunately, not going to be able to have them all within the walls of our Prancing Pony Inn.

It's just over a week away! Dragon*Con 2002, America's largest annual convention for fans of science fiction, fantasy and horror, comics and art, games and computers, animation, science, music, television and films, will be held August 30-September 2, Friday - Monday in Atlanta, Georgia. Tolkien Online's own Elbren, (that's me!), is on staff again and is throwing a party at The Prancing Pony on opening night of the convention in the Tolkien Track room.
...This LOTR collectible clip was especially interesting as it captured some of actors’ reactions to their characters in product form. Sculpting of the Sideshow Weta product began as the actors were completing principal photography for the third film in the trilogy. Thus many of the actors were able to give feedback on the product as it was being sculpted. The clip featured a lovely Liv Tyler viewing the Arwen sculpture while in costume, Ian McKellan reviewing the Gandalf figure while still in his Gandalf beard, Orlando Bloom marveling at the tiny replica arrows of the Legolas figure....
The Gathering of the Fellowship 2003 Planning Committee decided in an emergency meeting Tuesday night to have a three-way runoff between top vote getter Toronto and the two cities that had a virtual tie for second place -- New York and Denver.
Toronto got 22 percent of the total votes cast, but New York City and Denver are roughly even, with 14.1 percent and 13.9 percent of votes cast, respectively

Ballots for selecting a host city began going out Thursday, July 18 to the hundreds of people who signed up to attend the Gathering of the Fellowship, the massive fan event being planned for the December 2003 release of "The Return of the King," the third part of New Line Cinema's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings."

In a world premiere, film composer Howard Shore is set to unveil an orchestral suite based on his epic Oscar-winning soundtrack to FOTR on two consecutive August nights at the Hollywood Bowl. Shore's work is the centerpiece of the "Musical Mythologies: The Lord of the Rings" concerts Aug. 9 and 10 at the Hollywood Bowl. The piece will be performed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by John Mauceri, and the Pacific Chorale.
