I think that any resemblance to the German picture from the movie is purely coincidental. A group of hobbits hiding under a tree root would look rather like this no matter who was portraying it. By the way, why are both pictures showing four hobbits hiding? Only Frodo, Sam and Pippin were on the road to Crickhollow when they hid from the Black Rider. Merry was getting things ready at Crickhollow for Frodo's arrival.
