I alway like Ankes stuff because it is so original and her style is unmistakable.
Some people might comment on his long thin face and neck but this is Anke. It is her style and it is the watermark of her work. I don't think it needs to look perfect in this respect because of the style it is drawn in so I will give it a 5.
Also nice to see a pencil drawing to show that she is capbale of working in mediums other than watercolour.
Great work Anke.

Faramir was never Ruling Steward like Denethor, but he was Steward to the King, and was as such confirmed by Aragorn himself during his crowning ceremony (cf LotR, Book 6, Chapter 5: The Steward and the King).

The artwork is very nice, particularly the shading.
This appears to be a young man of approximately 20 or perhaps even a little younger than that.
Faramir was about 35 or 36 when his father died, so perhaps this individual is too young looking to make a convincing 27th Steward of Gondor but that doesn't diminish the very fine artwork.

The blood of Numenore still flows through the veins of the Stewards of Gondor. Which is why even though he is supposed to bein his late 30's he looks younger. Aragorn is over 80 in the books but he is never described as old in the sense that Gandalf was. The sketch is a mighty brilliant piece of art and i believe it is accurate as far as the age is concerned.

I am quite aware that those of Numenorian decent were long-lived. However, that doesn't mean that a mature man would appear to be nearly a boy.
Would a 25 year-old Faramir appear to be 13? Would a 10-year old Faramir appear to be a toddler? I think not. I believe the slow aging process would effect people once they reach maturity. This individual is clearly not mature.
Ask yourself whether you see this individual appears capable of inspiring his people through great feats on the battlefield. Does he? He sure doesn't to me. He obviously lacks the physical maturity to accomplish the things that Faramir is said to have accomplished. Now if you equipped him with a sling he would make a very convincing David.
In any case, this is a forum for commenting on the artwork, not on other's comments. I said it was a splendid work of art and I continue to hold that opinion.
P.S. Harpist, I'm glad I could amuse another geezer like myself.

And Faramir is young. He's supposed to be about 7 years younger than Boromir, who was in his early-mid thirties when he joined the Fellowship.

Oh My God... I cannot believe you don't know WHO this guy is. He's Faramir. Denethor's youngest son. Boromir's little brother. You can even find that out by watching the freaking movies. Sheesh...
Why are you even here if you haven't even read the books, or actually paid attention to the movies. You're probably one of them ORLI-LEGOLAS luvers... Oh how I despise them... I mean no offense to those of you who've read the books and watched the movies and happened to like Orlando Bloom. But the majority are "Like OMG, he is sooo hott" sort of people. I have delt with these sort of people far to often.
I like Legolas, but I like Gimli better. I love Samwise Gamgee most of all because of his loyalty and his courage. And I like Faramir, and this pic depics him in all of his glory. Fantastic work!!! I APPLAUD YOUR WORK< ANKE!!!

He looks a little young, but it's well drawn.

You have real skill in art which is not something I can bost of. However, I think he looks a bit too much like a young Roman. Maybe that's just your style. Anyway, good work!!!

And Faramir is young. He's supposed to be about 7 years younger than Boromir, who was in his early-mid thirties when he joined the Fellowship.
I like that cool-eyed stare he's got going.

Good job on the details and shading, especially on the clothes. It looks so 3D. For once I see artwork that is based on imagination. I just think he looks too young, and his face is a little too long and thin. He could also look friendlier.

the shading is very good, but he still looks a bit 2d to me. I agree with fishy, otherwise.

Haven't seen this one in its finished state so far. I like the dark background. And Faramir, of course. There's no questioning that.

He has old eyes in a very young face. It makes him look beautiful. I love your style, Anke. You've got such a flair that's evident in all your work, and I really admire it.

This is lovely, an interpretation very close to how I imagined Farimir. I really admire your style. Irreproachable!
