What woman would pick this??? Give up near immortality?? NOT!! My God, what did they do in re-casting? Take the first random dude who could fit in the costume? So many actors come to mind to who would be great in this role. Gary Oldman, John Malkovitch, F. Murray Abraham, Tom Berenger, Harrison Ford, the list goes on. Actors not only possessing the needed talent, but fitting the "look" better as well. Sheesh, you'd think with such a budget you could secure better talent for a primary role.

To me he looks a little but like my dad except with reddish brown hair. And Viggo Mortensen looks a little like my dad (but the hair's wrong :)) so I think he's good, but that's just my bias I guess. What is with you people judging the whole casting decision on one friggin' photo? Have you never heard of makeup? Hairstylists? Lighting changes? Acting??? Based on this picture alone I wouldn't have picked him, but obviously PJ said "ok, Viggo, look brooding... now proud... no urgent... now determined... hair & makeup! Get this man some long dark locks and some road-worn stubble... YES! STRIDER!" In the movie at least he looks the part, we'll see how he acts it. This is still a terrible pic though.
