Suilad, I mean its very very funny but only imagine if we could rule the world all those people that make fun of any Tolkien book would be tortured and killed sorry if I sound a bit crazy but just imagine a world without them the native language of the world would be either Sindarin or Quenya for the smart people, and short people would not be called Migets, but Hobbits, and nasty looking people would be orcs and everyone would recreate Middle-Earth(just dont worship the gods from M-E that would be going too far)but just imagine. Ha, ha! Funny! They should also put a Balrog-like car in the sign. That would make it funnier. I really think we should have signs like these on the road. They'll probably draw more attention, which might cause drivers to pay more attention and drive more carefully.

We should DEFINITELY rule the world. England "sigh" should be the Shire, and all the countries should be named accordingly. Everyone would have their own special Middle-Earth name and everyone would be HAPPY! Mebbe the US could be Valinor or summat. I reckon Bree-land is France. And Gondor is Italy, Not that I'm obssessed with naming current countries after Tolkein's creations or anything. It's super-funny. It's good! It would be cool if we ruled the world. Like not forcing people to do weird radical stuff, but making the Shire and Middle Earth and having midets be hobbits. And people knowing Elvish. It would be like a dream come true. Fun Fun Fun!

ok, sorry everyone who thought this was REALLY funny and all that stuff, but I don't the sign was all that funny *runs so she doesn't get stoned by all the fans of this thing* Anyway, what would be funnier (and funner) would be to buy some space somewhere in the ocean (think HUGE) and make an Island (maybe call it Middle Earth?) and have all the LotR people live there. I think with all the people who would live there, we'd have enough money! Of course, we would go back to swords, hobbit holes, etc, but I need my internet access, so I'm keeping that, but overall, we'd be in Middle Earth!!! Oh, yeah, we'd keep importing Chocolate and tomatoe products... I like those things!

This is the best road sign ever!! Someone should definatly market these, think of the possibilities. I want one just like any Tolkien fan would. The only thing is it should be "You SHALL not pass" not "you can not pass. It is still great though!

I didn't say this would cause the end of the world, I simply said that some of the comments could, to an impressionable personality, appear serious (even if that's not the intention, which, in most cases, it probably is not). I just think that for this type of picture there should always be a voice of warning. It's very easy to become obsessed and comments like the ones above could add lubricant to the slippery sloap down to the dark chasms of obsession, if you get my really weird metaphor (I'm quite tired). And remember it says to keep your comments friendly so I think it's a little rash to say that I have no sense of humour (in fact, I laughed heartily all through your reply). Aw, you're nice. I have seen the error of my ways and henceforth plan to be impressively laid back. The guy I was talking about wasn't someone I just met though. He was like this crazed, obsessional stalker person who had no other friends and was determined to have at least one. I had considerable difficulty getting rid of him (he'd call my house non-stop, turn up unannounced and had no idea how to take a fairly blatant hint). He went through a variety of obsessions, from the film 'Titanic', to the internet, and everything in between. I just wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else, or for anyone to have to put up with someone like that (which I did for about 7 years) until I finally changed my number and college course (which I know sounds a little extreme but actually wasn't given the circumstances). So maybe that'll explain my slightly eccentric reaction to this. Sorry!

Just a note to some people who think it was fake: I'ts not! It's not a real sign of course, but the background and the sign itself are 100% real. It's just the writing on the sign that isn't. Took me about half-an-hour to read all your comments, but I saw one, by KoolAid1328 that asked what it would be for "Children Playing". Well, it would be the same thing, saying "Children Playing" underneath it, only with pictures of a buncha little tiny orcs on a jungle-gym! :-) That's really bad. I need to go to bed! AH NO IVE BEEN BUSTED!!! Dang it all this time I thought I could give my opinion without "posting my own article" LOL what the hey is "Your own article" anyways. LOL! AH NO IVE BEEN BUSTED!!! Dang it all this time I thought I could give my opinion without "posting my own article" LOL what the hey is "Your own article" anyways. LOL! I dont see why you take my comment so personaly. but there realy isnt a lot you can do about my opinions :-) Yes Mushroom man and I must be cousins, cause we both agree on something, EVIL cousins on a quest to "make peoples lives as misserable as possible" :-) LOTR is going to the dogs :-( these movies are ruing the classic tales that I love.

I think there is nothing nasty about that image, and everyone's comments here about LotR fans ruling the world are simply JOKES, and deep down every lord of the rings fan wants to live in middle-earth. Who wouldn't want to live in a beautiful world, have a simpler life, and amazing races around you, no stresses about work, issues, family (because no one seems to divorce in m.e!), *sigh* I could go on all day... Tolkien would not be rolling over in his grave just if he hear people talking about how much we want to live in Middle Earth, or be an elf or something.

Mar is right Antarctica is separated into pieces owned by a variety of nations. I also have to agree with Mushroom Man and thank him for making that very insightful point about Fiction being different from real life and all. However I did find this sign rather amusing and i think it is a good piece of work on the creator's part. Nice work, and for all of those people who have said that it is SHALL not pass I must say: How many times must we tell you this, in the book it is CANNOT shall is merely PJ's interpretation and opinion.

We mean what we say about trolling. It will not be tolerated. Any comment that has been deemed to be insulting and not keeping within the TOS of TORC has been dealt with. This is a warning to those of you who feel it necessary to be rude, and rate fine art low for your own malicious purposes...it will no longer be tolerated.
BTW...I've left some of the arguments up there so the author's who try to use this as a shooting gallery by low balling various artists works can hopefuly learn from their mistakes and see how ridiculous it looks...esp. now that their ratings have been non rated so as not to affect the overall rating of the picture. So all the boasting about rating something low for your own personal satisfaction was to no avail.

sorry if I sound a bit crazy but just imagine a world without them the native language of the world would be either Sindarin or Quenya for the smart people, and short people would not be called Migets, but Hobbits, and nasty looking people would be orcs and everyone would recreate Middle-Earth(just dont worship the gods from M-E that would be going too far)but just imagine. If I am in charge of the world I promise you this will happen!(Just not killing all the people 
)

Actually, the sign is the quote from the book. I think there should be more stuff from tolkien and less about PJ. No offense though,

Ha, ha! Funny! They should also put a Balrog-like car in the sign. That would make it funnier. I really think we should have signs like these on the road. They'll probably draw more attention, which might cause drivers to pay more attention and drive more carefully.

We should DEFINITELY rule the world. England "sigh" should be the Shire, and all the countries should be named accordingly. Everyone would have their own special Middle-Earth name and everyone would be HAPPY!
Mebbe the US could be Valinor or summat.

Actually, Rána, I'm not sure about the U.S. It's a tough one, 'cause it's got like a million different climates. Then again, many counties do. Hmmm. Hard one.

I think with all the people who would live there, we'd have enough money! Oh, yeah, we'd keep importing Chocolate and tomatoe products... I like those things!

This is the best road sign ever!! Someone should definatly market these, think of the possibilities. I want one just like any Tolkien fan would. The only thing is it should be "You SHALL not pass" not "you can not pass. It is still great though!

I just think that for this type of picture there should always be a voice of warning. It's very easy to become obsessed and comments like the ones above could add lubricant to the slippery sloap down to the dark chasms of obsession, if you get my really weird metaphor (I'm quite tired). Aw, you're nice. I have seen the error of my ways and henceforth plan to be impressively laid back. The guy I was talking about wasn't someone I just met though. He was like this crazed, obsessional stalker person who had no other friends and was determined to have at least one. I had considerable difficulty getting rid of him (he'd call my house non-stop, turn up unannounced and had no idea how to take a fairly blatant hint). He went through a variety of obsessions, from the film 'Titanic', to the internet, and everything in between. I just wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else, or for anyone to have to put up with someone like that (which I did for about 7 years) until I finally changed my number and college course (which I know sounds a little extreme but actually wasn't given the circumstances). So maybe that'll explain my slightly eccentric reaction to this. Sorry!

AH NO IVE BEEN BUSTED!!! Dang it all this time I thought I could give my opinion without "posting my own article" LOL what the hey is "Your own article" anyways. LOL! I dont see why you take my comment so personaly. but there realy isnt a lot you can do about my opinions :-) Yes Mushroom man and I must be cousins, cause we both agree on something, EVIL cousins on a quest to "make peoples lives as misserable as possible" :-) LOTR is going to the dogs :-( these movies are ruing the classic tales that I love.

I think there is nothing nasty about that image, and everyone's comments here about LotR fans ruling the world are simply JOKES, and deep down every lord of the rings fan wants to live in middle-earth. Who wouldn't want to live in a beautiful world, have a simpler life, and amazing races around you, no stresses about work, issues, family (because no one seems to divorce in m.e!), *sigh* I could go on all day... Tolkien would not be rolling over in his grave just if he hear people talking about how much we want to live in Middle Earth, or be an elf or something.

Mar is right Antarctica is separated into pieces owned by a variety of nations. I also have to agree with Mushroom Man and thank him for making that very insightful point about Fiction being different from real life and all. However I did find this sign rather amusing and i think it is a good piece of work on the creator's part. Nice work, and for all of those people who have said that it is SHALL not pass I must say:

We mean what we say about trolling. It will not be tolerated. Any comment that has been deemed to be insulting and not keeping within the TOS of TORC has been dealt with. This is a warning to those of you who feel it necessary to be rude, and rate fine art low for your own malicious purposes...it will no longer be tolerated.
BTW...I've left some of the arguments up there so the author's who try to use this as a shooting gallery by low balling various artists works can hopefuly learn from their mistakes and see how ridiculous it looks...esp. now that their ratings have been non rated so as not to affect the overall rating of the picture. So all the boasting about rating something low for your own personal satisfaction was to no avail.

Very cool, but the sign should say "You shall not pass", instead of "You cannot pass". However, it is definitely one of the neatest street signs around!
