The use of color is great. I like the balance of the composition with the contrast of color. It looks like it was drawn with colored pencils, but I think you could make it better with paint. Nice work.

Thanks so much guys for the compliments, yes it is color pencil And I do try my hardest to stay true to Tolkiens own style, when basing work off of subjects such as this. And as for the script, is says simply, in Quenya, Two Trees.

What an imagination you have. Not only that, you can take what you are dreaming and put it on paper, and that is quite impressive. Often I know what it is I want to draw, but I simply can't describe it on paper.
Beautiful colors and amazing design. I agree with tim about the painting though...you should take your talent and put it on paint instead of limiting your abilities to drawing with color pencils.

As for color pencil vs paint, I've always prefered the whimsical effect given by pencil.... altho I would love to master paints as I have pencils, but alas, I havent the room for the paint mess I would make in my little appartment

actually Eowyn, I made the trees purposely that way, as it is a style which Tolkien used in his own drawings of trees. they arent supposed to look realistic

I do illustrations for a living, have a degree in the arts (not that that matters really)... if I wanted to put up pencil drawings copied from photos, I am sure I'd get high ratings here... not that its a very difficult thing to do (make copies of photos that is)! I could post here more "popular" "shaded" portraits.... but that is not the work I am most proud of. I'd rather see... and share... those things that havent been seen.
Please do not compare my work to the others here... we all have different styles, and prefer different subjects.
