And what relevance does this have with The Two Towers, again? Arwen's given a prominant place, Frodo is relegated to the sidelines, and Eomer, Theoden, and Faramir aren't even shown. What kind of representation is this? (Oh, right, forgot, the movie kind. How silly of me.)
From a purely artistic view, it looks like nothing more than a menage of heads (and an occasional body). The colors are dim, the background is blurry, there's little distinction among the people, and nothing grabs your attention.
But at least Frodo doesn't look stoned this time.

Let us hope that the people responsible for this poster were fired. While not particularly terrible, it's also not very good, the tower of heads looks silly, and Arwen is rediculously large. In addition, Theoden does not appear on the poster,nor does Faramir, a mortal crime in my opinion.

With the fellowship poster, I disliked it, but grew to like it with repeated exposure. This one, I liked it at first glance, but it's really starting to annoy me the more I see it.
No focus, assymetrical and unbalanced, and lacking dramatic impact. Never going to be considered a classic, ever.

It looks funny, the characters look "unblended", they look like they were pasted on.
It's ok if you look at it it alone, but comparing it to the FOTR poster, it is utterly disappointing. At least in that one, even if Arwen was given such a big space, the rest of the characters were given big spaces too. In this one, even Merry and Pippin are not shown.
I don't mind that Arwen's big, just that the rest of the characters are either too small or not there.
But that's New Line Cinema's marketing. Liv Tyler=Star power

I liked Arwen when I read the book, but now she's making me REALLY angry. Just pops up everywhere, places she should NOT be.

Has anybody knowticed that the picture of Gimli is the same damn pic from the one Fellowship poster? And whats with Arwen? She was only in the first and last book! Get rid of the elf in te movies! But she is hot.

This is actually a decent poster if you think about it. It doesnt hurt to look at it and its visually appealing. I read an article on some other website about the movie directors concentrating on some sort of love triangle including Aragorn, Arwen and the Lady of the Wood I think (I could be wrong as I read this a while, I haven't read the second book yet and I'm not fully sure about it being Galadriel) which would explain their emphasis on Arwen. That plus Liv Tyler is a rather popular person. However, I must complain about four things: heads idea, pictures of the Towers are much less than stellar, the fact that Legolas and Gimli are tiny and the fact that Merry and Pip aren't on there at all. The heads idea is rather scary; its like a four headed person or something. It's called the Two Towers for a reason. Bad emphasis. Legolas is my favourite character so naturally I would like to see bigger pictures of him. Gimli's hilarious. Merry and Pippin make the whole journey funny. This could have been a lot better but I'm pleased with the results nonetheless.

Sarumanra stomps towards them and throws back his head jerkily, roaring. "ROARGH!"
"Only Samlor can save us now," mulls a scientist. "Save us, Samlot!" he cries, shouting into his watch that has just transformed into a megaphone.
Samlor thunders into view. A Japanese Elven chorus sings his name. "SAMLOR SAMLOOOOR" Samlor picks up Sarumanra and hurls him. Sarumanra picks himself up from the shattered wreckage of Sauron's tower in the distance. They proceed to fight.
Well, that's what it looks like to me. (Actually, if that's how Jackson made the second film, I'd still love it) Anyway, Frodo should be shown next to Sam, prominently at the top. Theoden should be there looking haunted in the centre. Aragorn and Arwen to the left, Legolas and Gimli to the right. Pippin and Merry being dragged by Uruk-Hai along the bottom.
I quite like Arwen, and Liv's performance of her. She surprised me. And she seems really nice in the extras on the SE. And the rest of the cast like her. So be nice, you lot, if you must criticise.

I must admit its not a huge flop of a poster but I think compared to the first 2 for the FOTR they were so vivid and appealing. This one really doesnt do it for me. I think if they captured something different from the 2 Towers on the poster since its already idolised in the first TTT poster - for example some of the landmarks in TTT film?
Just my 2 cents worth. But the film will be worth it.
Shame the poster doesnt show the same enthusiasm.

I must say that the poster is really bogus. aragorn's head looks like suspened in mid air, frodo and gandalf don't look good enough in it.. altogether i must say that the poster has been a flop. i must say that pj should make the new poster better than this one. i myself am i big lotr fan but one has to admit that the poster is very odd and unsuitable for such a great movie.

Considering that Fellowship of the Ring had stunning images and The Two Towers promises to be even more visually dramatic, New Line ought to get somebody else to do its Lord of the Rings movie posters. The issue is not so much which character is not represented. Just as the medium of film doesn't allow the introduction of all the characters we love from the books, a movie poster can't do justice to the many characters who will have prominent roles in the second film.
What the movie poster should do is portray a dramatic image that excites hard-core fans like us and sparks the imagination and curiosity of those unfamiliar with it. The current TTT poster has no dominant image and is a mish-mash that would shame anyone who has thought for two seconds about graphic design principles.
Give us an image like the one used in the ad to highlight the film's special effects. In fact, the way to excite serious fans is to give us multiple posters featuring the variety of our favorite characters.
