In the book, Theoden lends helmets, shields and "shining mail" to Aragorn and Legolas. Not exactly an armour, but I think a full mail shirt would look too heavy on Legolas. Anyway, he looks great and that's what's important. And really, he's about to go kill peoples (and orcs), he must look grave. He's an elf, not a psycho.

This is how Theoden and his House Knights sweep the enemy from the gates as the Horn sounds. Hence, Legolas, if he's going to fight like a rider, has to have stirrups and a high-back saddle to take the weight of impact. Bravo P.J.!

I think the lighting is off. Either that or his ear wasn't put on right. But I see what 3Butterbur is talking about. The ear on the right of the picture, which would be his left ear, is pushed more down it looks like. His right ear is pointed more up. I still love the pic though.

you'd probably agree that the bridle and armor don't go well with the visions of JRRT, a rmor and bridle don't go well with my picture of Legolas either, I wa also waiting for the carefree aspect of most of the elves. I mean really, they are not bound by time like humans, and therefore should not be burdened much by our worries.
I'd have to accede that the costuming was quite imaginative though. And the costume does lend a somber quality to the advent of war, which makes this snapshot noteworthy on its merits.
